Dior Homme Paris 2009 Fashion Week – Francisco Lachowski
From VOGUE.co.uk on the Dior show in Paris in 2009:
WHAT? Slogan T-shirts are back? Again? How confusing. Following on from the batwings and loud colours of his last collection for Dior, Kris Van Assche took another dive into the Eighties for the autumn/winter 2009-10 show.
Pleated banana pants, Dr Marten style boots and oversized, crumpled turtlenecks were the recurring features here, along with a criss-crossing closure on jackets and trousers that brought a casual swing to the front of ensembles.
There were hints of classic Japanese-inspired deconstruction in backless waistcoats and contrasting panels on the backs of shirts, and references to the glory days of Helmut Lang in some canvas straps on shirts and jackets. For those of us feeling nostalgic about the decadent apex of the last bubble economy, it was a timely collection.
